The Plains Angels Early Stages Fund is a new fund being developed to invest in the earliest stages of a startup. It will invest in scalable companies in Iowa and primarily focus on technology, manufacturing, fintech, insurtech, energy, agtech, and biotech. Its focus will not include retail, services, or hospitality industries.

The fund is intended to fill the gap in the innovation funding continuum in Iowa. Startups in the targeted areas often lean on friends & family funding, angels, angel groups such as Plains Angels and FIN Capital, State of Iowa innovation funding programs, and venture funds. Investment vehicles that can bridge the gap between angel and venture funds are harder to find and this fund will target that middle space through its own funds and those from partner organizations from neighboring states also seeking opportunities.

The fund is a private fund, will invest strategically and opportunistically for growth.
