We are seeking to invest in early-stage entrepreneurs. As the meaning of pre-seed, seed, alphabet soup of series, and stages in the middle take differing meanings, we look for companies that have built a minimum viable product and put it in the hands of real customers who have paid for the product or a pilot. Idea-stage companies, companies seeking investment to build a MVP, or those with annual revenue in excess of $1M are better suited for our venture firm partner members for a leading term sheet.
Application Process
The first step is filling out an application form
Screening
The application will be reviewed by one or more members of Plains Angels to determine if your company is within investment profile for Plains Angels members. If so, you will be contacted to schedule a presentation to Plains Angels. We meet on the second Mondays of each month and decide upon each month’s presenters approximately two weeks prior to the meeting date.
Selection and Presentation
Once selected, entrepreneurs present to the Plains Angels at a monthly meeting for 15 minutes followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.
We recommend using an investor presentation template for your pitch. A sample deck is linked here for your convenience.
You’ll be contacted by Plains Angels if there is interest amongst one or more members to study your company further. If there isn’t sufficient interest in proceeding, we will inform you of a lack of interest amongst our members. Lack of interest isn’t an indictment of your idea, company, or its prospect. It simply indicates that the members do not have an interest in bringing your company into their portfolio.
If there is interest in proceeding further, the subgroup of interested investors will work with you to perform due diligence and discuss possible investment options. This will begin with an ask for your data room to begin our diligence. This may take time depending on the complexity of the company, the amount of capital being raised, prior or current investors involved, and investment vehicles utilized for the specific raise.
